Thunderworks Awarded Major Contract
April 16, 2007

The San Diego County Sheriffs Department awarded ThunderWorks Mobile Engineering a contract this month to outfit 107 department’s vehicles.

Thunderworks, a division of Illinois-based Decatur Electronics, Inc., will equip several K-9 vehicles, a fleet of more than 70 Crown Victoria patrol units and more than 25 SUVs.

“This is a critical production win for our team,” said Brian Brown, Thunderworks’ General Manager.  “We’re proud to be working for the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department and are gearing up now to make sure officers get the cars they need to keep our streets safe.”

TW installation teams start the project June 1. Thunderworks’ outfitting and installation experience with the U.S. Border Patrol, the U.S. Forest Service, the Marine Corps and NAVY S.E.A.L.s as well as many police and sheriff departments in California, Nevada and New Mexico testifies to the crews’ abilities and technical skills and Thunderworks’ proprietary harnessing systems. The company also has wood, fiberglass and metal fabrication departments for special requirements for any job.

“Thunderworks has achieved a new plateau with our commitment to fleet work projects of this scale,” said Allen Johnston, Director of Business Development.  “We have the trained installers, the shop and storage facilities and the vendor relationships. As important, Ford ships fleets directly to our door, which saves every agency a lot of time, money and hassle.”
