Decatur Electronics, Inc. Announces the Acquisition of ThunderWorks Mobile Engineering

December 15, 2003--Decatur Electronics, Inc., an international manufacturer of radar speed measurement products, in-car video systems and traffic safety products, announces the purchase of ThunderWorks Mobile Engineering on December 15, 2003. Located in Santee, California, ThunderWorks specializes in professional integration, design and installation of high-tech components in a wide range of vehicles including:

ThunderWorks was founded in 1998 by two California businessmen, Allen Johnston and Don Fox. By providing "turn-key" communication systems for police vehicles, ThunderWorks established itself as a market leader by providing unique, specialized service and support. ThunderWorks also provides a variety of outfitted specialty vehicles including a KTM tactical motorcycle, mobile command centers, search and rescue, and fire fighting vehicles.

The acquisition of ThunderWorks positions Decatur Electronics, Inc. as one of the premier law enforcement equipment and integration providers in the nation, offering an array of products and services. Randall Sanner will lead the integration of the two companies into a combined entity. Mr. Sanner joined Decatur Electronics, Inc., as CFO in 1994 and was named the company's President and CEO in 1997, and Chairman in 2003. He holds a BS/BA Degree in Accounting from the University of Arkansas.

Allen Johnston has worked in the electronics field for approximately 25 years. Mr. Johnston will be the Director of Business Development for the new division, charged with responsibility for growth in markets and product innovations.

Don Fox has over 15 years of mobile electronics experience in a technical/engineering capacity. Mr. Fox will be the Director of Technical Services in the new division.
