TW’s relationship with the Albuquerque Police Department continues to expand with the unveiling of an APD 2008 Suburban designed to support high profile public events and critical agency recruiting.

Earlier in 2007, TW created several Tahoes for the APD, slick-top sergeant vehicles capable of acting as mini command posts in the field.

Randy Chavez, APD Fleet Manager, referred to the Tahoes as “works of art.”

The TW team is just as proud of the new Suburban they created for the APD. TW worked closely with the APD to design a vehicle for recruiting new officers.

“We worked hand in hand with them to make sure the Suburban was exactly what they wanted,” said Allen Johnston, Director of TW Business Development. “They needed something that would draw attention and at the same, communicate effectively.”

APD planned to use the vehicle at special events to enable potential applicants to view informational videos and listen to presentations about the department. Built-in work surfaces give recruits a place to complete applications.

However, it quickly became evident that the Suburban could play an important role, providing command staff with a way to dessiminate critical information and images.

The vehicle is equipped with a 42" LCD screen in the rear and a rapidly deployable public address system allowing the vehicle to shift to command and communication functionality at a moments notice.

 “We’re seeing a significant upward trend in procurement of specialized mission vehicles like the APD configuration,” said Johnston.

“Multi-mission capability is a critical design criteria when creating public safety assets within challenging economic and public safety environments.

“Small platform, ultra-versatile vehicles is an established area of our team's expertise.”
